BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

Unit:  BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

This unit is for students of 1st Office Administration (Vocational Training) and it is enclosed in the subject  "Communication and Customer Service"

In this unit we give a introduction about what is the communication in general. Moreover, we explain the elements and the process of communication. Then, the unit is focus in business communication, not only inside but also outside the company, provinding details of the different tools we have to communicate things in a business.

The  OBJETIVES   that we aims in this unit are the follows:

  • To distinguish the different elements of communication
  • To realize how the communication process takes place
  • To know the kinds of communication
  • To distinguish internal and external business communication
  • To know several tools of internal and external business communication

The main TASKS to do are:

  • Look the video about the elements of communication (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXzH4wZi3VM)
  • Do the online exercice matching each mage with its element of communication (http://learningapps.org/display?v=pq2we1m8201)
  • Idetify the stages of communication process in a picture
  • Make an online quiz about communication process (http://study.com/academy/practice/quiz-worksheet-steps-of-the-communication-process.html)
  • If the student obtains less than 3 points in the quiz, look the video about how communication process takes place and make the quiz again (http://study.com/academy/lesson/what-is-the-communication-process-definition-steps.html#lesson)
  • Do the online exercice to classify different communication tools, depending on they are use (in internal or external bussines communication) http://learningapps.org/display?v=peo81b4kc01

Inside the classroom, we can develope this unit following the next planning:

SESSION 1 --> Brainstorming about the idea of communication in general. Introduction
SESSION 2 --> Remember the main ideas of introduction and emphasize what we have to take into account when we have to communicate something. Make a role-laying where a student pretends be a politician explaining his/her ideas to a group of people (the rest of student will analyze how he/she had  transfered this information)
SESSION 3 --> Explain which are the communication elements. Look the video about this elements (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXzH4wZi3VM). Identify these elements in the example of role-playing of last session
SSESION 4 --> Remember the main ideas of last session and explain the communication process. Identify the stages of this process in a picture. In pairs, the students will explain to their partners the communication process, using the exercice done.
SESSION 5 --> Remember the communication process and keep on with the "students exhibitions". Make the quiz about the communication process. Comment on the results obtained by each student.
SESIÓN 6 --> Finish  the "students exhibitions" and  analyze them. Look the video about the communication process (http://study.com/academy/lesson/what-is-the-communication-process-definition-steps.html#lesson) and if a student obtained less than 3 point s in the quiz, make it again one we have looked the video.
SESSION 7 --> Explain the internal business communication and the differents tools the company has to use this kind of communication
SESSION 8 --> Explain the external business communication and the differents tools the company has to use this kind of communication
SESSION 9 --> Distinguish between internal and external bussines communication, remembering the different tools of each one and do the online exercice of classifying these tools (http://learningapps.org/display?v=peo81b4kc01)
