Weather and Climate





Esta unidad se llama "Weather and Climate". Va dirigida a niños y niñas de 4 de Educación Primaria en la asignatura de Science. 
En esta unidad se trabajará el vocabulario relacionado con el tiempo y el clima.
Los objetivos de esta unidad son los siguientes :
1. Know the main features of the weather. 
2. Identify the characteristics of the seasons and what causes them.
3. Understand and describe meteorology, weather forecasting and the instruments used.
4. Understand and evaluate the influence of climate on human activity. 
5. Understand and use weather maps. 
6. Understand the basic characteristics of the atmosphere and the layers into which it is divided. 
7. Understand and appreciate the importance of the atmosphere for life on Earth. 
8. Use new technologies to carry out activities. 

Los objetivos y contenidos serán trabajados a través de esta secuencia de sesiones :
Introduction ( 1 session) 
We are going to watch a video to introduce the topic, reviewing the vocabulary previously learned and introducing new words. 
Content ( 6 sessions) 
1st session : The weather and its factors. 
The students will learn all about the atmosphere and the different layers of the atmosphere. 
They have to do activities such as Listen and say the layer of the atmosphere where the following things can be found. 
2nd session: Weather characteristics: clouds, wind, precipitation and temperature. Weather forecasts and meteorological instruments. 
Here, activities such as Match each weather device to the correct measurement will be worked. 
3rd session : Meteorology and seasons. The seasons and the movement of Earth. 
We will work activities like Listen and match each person to the correct pair of symbols. Then, say which season each pair of symbols depicts. 
4th session: Climate and climate zones. 
We will learn what the climate is and the characteristics of the different climate zones. 
Students are going to work activities such as Fill in the missing words and write the sentences in your notebook. 
5th session : The climate in Spain. 
Here the students will learn that there are different climates in Spain. 
An example of activity could be Listen to these advertisements and complete the table. 
6th session: Look for a video which shows the different Climate zones and watch it.( In pairs)
Climate zones of the world for kids and Affecting Factors, makemegenius.
Review (2 sessions) 
Activities such as: 
Copy the mind map into your notebook and fill in the missing words and phrases. 
Make your own mind map about weather stations.
Answer the questions. 
Complete the table. 
Read the sentences and choose the best word for each space. 
Read the description and say what weather devices they are referring to.
Listen and match each place to the corresponding climate. 
Final tasks ( 1 session) 
Label the different climate zones in Spain and colour the map accordingly. Then explain to the rest of the class. 
Make a weather map of Spain. Cut and stick the symbols. Then explain it to the rest of the class.
