UDI con metodología AICLE para ED. Primaria (revisada)

Title: "The human body"


Course/Level: 4th / Primary Education 


Learning outcomes:

- To identify and locate organs involved in performing vital body functions. 
- To know the human body functions and organs (appliances, locations, shapes, structures, functions, care…)
- To learn healthy living practices relating to the proper functioning of the body. 
- To adopt healthy lifestyle habits and to understand the health impact of bad habits.


Subject Content:

- The human body. 
- The vital functions in humans: Interaction, Nutrition and Reproduction.

- Healthy habits.

 SESSION 1: DYGESTIVE SISTEM POSTER (1 hour)

2. In groups of six students, we will give each member of the group a piece of paper with the name and function of a different organ of the digestive system.

3. Subsequently, each student in the group has to read the assigned text and all the others have to enter in a data table the name of the organ and the function.

4. Once all they have finished, card boards will be distributed to design a graphic (poster) of the digestive system.

SESSION 2: JOURNEY OF FOOD (1 hour)

- In pairs, the students will read a text about the journey of food through the human digestive system.

- Then, they have to answer some questions about the text such as: "How long does digestion takes?" "How long does food take to go through your digestive system?" "In which organ does food take more time?" (The answers to these questions will be supported by an appropriate scaffolding. We can offer a vocabulary bank too).

SESSION 3: FACIAL EXPRESSIONS (1 hour)

- Once the students see this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utZr0dPu5sk they start to walk through the classroom. One of them stop in front of another and have to ask: "What is this emotion?", and the other one have to answer: "That emotion is…"

SESSION 4: HEALTHY HABITS CARDS (1 hour)

- Each group of six students have to draw pictures and make cards with healthy habitshygiene, exercising, rest, balanced diet… The cards need to include at least one sentence and two or three pictures. Example: Brush your teeth after every meal.

- To assign a topic to each group, we can make a draw or something similar.

- When they finish, they have to expose to the rest of the class what their poster consists of.

- Lately, we can display all the cards on the corridor walls.

2 - The eatwell plate

Explain this plate which is called "The eatwell plate" because it shows us what we need to 'eat' to be 'well' and stay healthy.  Question the children to help them engage with "The eatwell plate":
- Which are the two biggest groups on the plate?
- Which foods can you see in these groups?
- Which is the smallest group?
- Which foods can you see in this group?
- Which are the middle sized groups?
- What foods can you see in these groups?
- Where is the: egg; tomato; bread; fish; cake; milk?


3 - The eatwell plate jigsaw:

Grupos de cuatro alumnos. Usando sólo un puzzle, dar a cada niño una sola pieza y luego pedirles conformen el puzzle juntos. A medida que se completa cada puzzle, tienen que ir respondiendo a las preguntas de las diapositivas.

Se le da a cada grupo de 4 alumnos una ficha de bingo en la que aparecen frutas y verduras. Antes, habremos trabajado el vocabulario sobre estos frutas y verdaderas. Se dirá en voz alta diferentes alimentos de las imágenes, y los alumnos marcan con una ficha si el alimento mencionado está en su ficha de bingo. Gana el grupo que antes marque sus cuatro alimentos.
