THANKSGIVING WEEK UNIT

Title of the Unit: THANKSGIVING WEEK

Subject:  Visual Arts and Geography/History

Course / Level:  1º E.S.O. 
 

 

 





INTRODUCTION:

This is a unit to work the Thanksgiving Tradition in English speaking countries.

It is recommended to be carried out during the previous week to that feast.

As it takes 5 periods of work, it should be carried out by two or more subjects of a bilingual section school working co-ordinately.

This unit has been designed for the subjects of Visual Arts and Geography/History.

 

 

The LEARNING OUTCOMES / EVALUATION CRITERIA are the following:

 

·         To be familiar with the tradition of Thanksgiving feast.

·         To express through means of speaking some ideas or feelings related to this feast.

·         To communicate history facts and events by means of maps.

·         To develop creativity by making drawings and calligraphy words about the topic.

 

 

In this unit we are going to develop the following ACTIVITIES:

 

Brainstorm about previous ideas (speaking)

Watch and listen to videos (to get new information)

Read texts about this topic.

Recognize images related to the feast.

Elaborate a map based in places where this tradition began and where it is followed nowadays.

Draw a poster with calligraphy letters and visual- thinking drawings.

Evaluate the unit with:

-A "matching pairs" test

-A "Challenge" quiz

-A speaking/drawing final activity.

 

  

Organization and class distribution /TIMING:

This unit will have 5 sessions. As it has been previously said, it should be carried out the week before Thanksgiving Feast.

Activities are distributed between Geography/History and Visual Arts class.

  1. Es un tema interesante por el que los alumnos sentirán curiosidad, además se hará ameno por la diversidad de actividades que propones.
