HABITATS

TITLE: HABITATS

COURSE: 4 TH PRIMARY

SUBJECT: SCIENCE


INTRODUCTION


Children learn about biology and explore why certain animals live in their chosen habitats. It also teaches children about weather, earth sciences, and nature.

They will learn a small bit of information about different habitats. They will then take that knowledge and expand on it by working to focus on one habitat that you assign to them. They will share the information they learn with the class so all the students will have a greater understanding of the habitats.


OBJETIVES

  • To describe what a food chain is.

  • To know the main features of land habitats.

  • To know the main features of water habitats.

  • To recognise what an adaptation is.

  • To describe what populations and communities are.

  • To distinguish between costumers and decomposers / pray and predator

  • To put in practice a food chain in the school environment

  • To experience in different habitats with animals or plants.


Methodology


Groups: individual activity, small groups activities and big groups activities.

Timing: open and flexible classrooms.

Between 6 to 8 lessons, and continuous evaluation during the unit.

TIMING:


SESSION 1


-read a text about ocean

-talk about picture

-watch a video in youtube about it

-make a summary in groups


SESSION 2


-read a text about desert

-talk about pictures

-watch a video in youtube about it

-Go to the audiovisual class and see videor play with interactive games


SESSION 3


-read a text about freshwater habitat

-talk about pictures

-Play games with flashcards

-make a summary in groups


SESSION 4


-read a text about mountain habitat

- watch a video and talk about it

-listen something about mountain habitat and make a summary in groups


SESSION 5


-read a text about rain forest

-talk about pictures

-play with interactive games and flashcards


SESSION 6


- Read and talk about food chain

- made in big groups different food chains with flashcards

- make a summary in groups


SESSION 7


-Review con EDUCAPLAY : https://www.educaplay.com/en/learningresources/3417082/place_of_the_world_and_animals.htm

-Make a big mural in continuous paper with types of habitats (animals, plants, chain …)


SESSION 8

- Make a virtual travel in 3D around the natural museum of science in Madrid

  1. Hi Marta, me ha gustado tu unidad. Se nota que te has aplicado con el andamiaje. He encontrado una gran variedad de actividades, que sin duda no sólo añaden atractivo a la unidad, si no que demuestra todo lo aprendido en el curso.
