THE SPANISH FINANCIAL SYSTEM

The aicle didactic unit that I have done is titled THE FINANCIAL SPANISH SYSTEM and is aimed at the upper level students of the Administration and Finance cycle (2nd year), the financial and insurance products and services module or the financial management module, with a duration of 5 sessions. The unit will be taught in the first quarter with an approximate duration of 5 sessions. And each session consists of 55 minutes.

The unit is about the structure of the Spanish financial system, the institutions that make it up, taking into account that Spain is a member of the European Union, which also includes some of the community institutions such as The European Central Bank.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

To know the structure of the Spanish financial system, identifying its components.

To explain the role of the Bank of Spain in the regulation of the financial sector.

To describe the functions of each of the financial intermediaries.

ACTIVITIES

1. Introduction-motivation. What are the functions of the Bank of Spain and the European Central Bank? Who controls the amount of money in circulation?

2. Visit the Bank of Spain website (origin and functions)

3. Search in press online (in L2) news related to the BE and its functions.

4. Translate to L2 the structure scheme of the financial system provided.

5. See video about the price stability available on the BE website.

6. Discussion: depending on the role played by the Bank of Spain in the definition of the monetary policy of the euro zone ... has the change from the peseta to the euro harmed or benefited us? Has Spain benefited from its entry into the EU?

7. Research work and exhibition in class: What happens if financial institutions fail? Who can they ask for help? What are the consequences for the economy?

8. EDUCAPLAY Activities

Sequencing of activities and contents by sessions

1st session. We started the first session with a summary of the previous UD. Then we are going to do a first activity of type introduction-motivation (act.1). And we will visit the BE website to obtain information about its origins and its functions, focusing on monetary policy as an essential function and its main objective referred to price stability. (act.2)

2nd session. In the 2nd session they have to do the activity 3. We will correct the activity through discussion and sharing, commenting on the information obtained. Then they have to do the activity 4 and 5.

3rd session. In the 3rd session they will do activity 6. For this activity I provide them a web with the necessary resources to prepare a debate in L2

I will divide the class into 2 groups, one in favor and the other against the entry of the euro. A debate will be created and the students will express their ideas. Previously they have to search for information on the Internet

4th session. In the 4th session we carried out activity 7, 8 and 9. And I will ask them to surf the net, once again, a news related to these concepts, making a summary of headlines. They can finish the activity at home.

5th session. Therefore in the 5th session I will collect the previous activity to correct it and finally they will do the activities that I have done with EDUCAPLAY.
