ANCIENT EGYPT
This Unit has been done for students in the first course of Secondary Education. In this unit we are going to study the life, society and history of Ancient Egypt.
The learning outcomes of the unit are:
- Identify and place the relevant historical events in the world's history.
- Obtain and use the specific vocabulary.
- Develop respectful attitudes towards other cultures and opinion, always maintaining our own point of view.
- Work in groups and take part in debates with a constructive, critical but tolerant attitude.
- Be able to understand and talk a foreign language in an appropriate way.
- Obtain information from written and visual source.

I'm going to use the following language contents and communication:

The development of the unit will be:
Sesion 1: The
à What does the student know?
'He who rides the sea of the Nile must have sails woven of patience.'
The student will be asked to make pairs and make themselves questions about the quote, in order to know how much they know about the river
And then, they will have to share with the rest of the class what they know.
à New vocabulary. The teacher will write in the board a list of vocabulary and definitions and they will have to match them.
à The teacher will give the students a text where they can find information about the river
à Finally they will have to answer some questions about the river
Sesion 2: Pharaons
à Vocabulary. First of all the teacher will give a list of vocabulary and the students will have to look for the meanings of the words using the computers.
à Later they will be given a text with some bold words and a list of definitions that they will have to match.
à Using the text above they will make a summary of it in order to know if they have achieved its real meaning. When they finish they will read it to the rest of the class and they will be able to be asked short questions about it.
à In order to situate the students, the teacher will show them a timeline of the Ancient Egypt. Using the timeline and some constructions given by the teacher they will have to write sentences about
Sesion 3: Society

à The class will be divided into eight groups: slaves, farmers, craftsman, scribes, soldiers, nobles, priests and viziers. In groups (3-4 people) imagine what life was like for each social group. Think about their occupations, social status, etc. They will answer some questions about it.
à Then they will write a short paragraph explaining the situation of their social group to the class.
Session 4: Death and Life in Ancient
à They will have a brain storming about death. With the words and ideas they have, make groups and they will discuss about this topic.
à They will read this article http://www.historymuseum.ca/cmc/exhibitions/civil/egypt/egcr04e.shtml about death in Ancient Egypt and they will have to take the main ideas of it.
à They will prepare a project about pyramids and mummies in
