Hey, Bach!

TITLE: Hey, Bach!

COURSE/LEVEL: 5º Primary Education

SUBJECT: Music

This Didactic Unit is devoted to Johann Sebastian Bach, one of the greatest composers of all time, who lived three centuries ago. Students from the fifth grade of Primary Education will look at his life and will discover some of his music works. In the end, they will put in common the main aspects of Bach in order to expand a Music version of the "Who's Who?" board game that they are elaborating.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Conceptual aims:

·          To listen to a music composition through Active Music Learning, following a musicogram.

·          To do research about the composer using the ICT's.

·          To add a summary of the composer biography to our "Who's who?" board game.

Linguistic aims:

·          To ask for help, requests, information and opinion.

·          To be able to summarize the information obtained.

SUBJECT CONTENT:

·          "Badinerie", by J.S.Bach.

·          School's percussion instruments.

·          Investigation of Bach's biography.

TASKS AND ACTIVITIES:

Tasks:

·          Bach's life research

·          Bach's life brief summary for the board game

·          Elaboration of a new cell for the board game

·          Identify wood and metal percussion instruments and their names in the L2

·          Listen to others' presentation and assess theirs

Activities:

·          Discussion about the differences they (students) can appreciate between today's music and Bach's music

·          Presentation of Bach's life

·          Following a musicogram with percussion instruments

·          Quiz
