Geometric Proportionality

GEOMETRIC PROPORTIONALITY

Title: Geometric Proportionality

Level: 2º Secondary Education

Subject: Maths

Description:

How is the useful to have knowledge about geometry?

To be used to handling maps and scales helps us to calculate different distances. We look for similarity shapes that we can manipulate and allow us to reach the far.

Learning outcomes:

- To determine if different couples of segments are similar

- To calculate ratios in a couple of segments.

- To apply the Tales theorem to calculate measure of segments.

- To divide a segment in proportional parts.

- To know when two triangles are similar using the criteria of triangles similarity.

- To solve problems related to polygons similarity.

- To calculate distances in a map using scales.

Subject content:

- Ratio and proportionality

-  Proportional segments.

-  Tales theorem

-  Proportional parts of a segment

-  Similar triangles

-  Triangles in Tales position

-  Criteria of triangles similarity

-  Similar polygons

-  Perimeter and area of similar polygons

-  Scale and distances

The unit development

The development of this unit is going to carry out in five sessions. In two of them, pupils could listen to explanation in which they could interact with the teacher an the other schoolmates. In the rest of the sessions we are going to do the different tasks included in the attached file of activities.
