El título de esta Unidad Didáctica es "The Islam", dirigida a los alumnos de 2º ESO de la asignatura bilingüe de inglés "Geography and History".

1.       Objectives :

-To know the differences between the terms « Arab/Arabic/Muslim »

-To know what are the most populated Islamic countries in the world and its geography

-To get to know the differences between the hijab and the burka

-To get familiar with the arab culture and therefore get a broader open mind

-To understand different curiosities about the Muslim's way of life

-To understand and explain the five pillars of the Islam

-To know who was the prophet Mohammed, the Quran and the Sharia Law

 

2.       Contents :

-The differences between the Hijab and burka

-Geography and localisation of the main Islamic countries in the world

-List of vocabulary according to the main topic from this unit

-The five pillars of the Islam

-The prophet Mohammed, the Quran and the Sharia Law

Descripción de las sesiones:

-Session 1: Brainstorming about the Islam: "What is the Islam"

Introductory video about the Islam (link above): they need to write down at least 5 ideas they watch in the video

Image: map about the Islamic countries

-Session 2: English vocabulary we will study during this unit (with the Spanish translation)

Explanation of the "Five pillars of the Islam" : in pairs, they need to name them and explain

-Session 3: Video number 2 about the pilgrimage to Mecca (link above)

Activity with the three main questions about the Islam (after having explained the theory)

Interactive activity 1 about vocabulary (link above)

-Session 4: Video number 3 about the pilgrimage to Mecca (link above): they need to write down at least 5 ideas they watch in the video.

In pairs, they need to share the ideas orally.

-Session 5: image about the conversation with a Muslim friend explaining the importance of the Hijab.

Write down different ideas about the use of the Hijab and talk about it with your partner.
