ANIMALS

PROYECTO FINAL: ANIMALS

Level: 4th Primary

Subject: Natural Sciencie

 

Introduction:

With this Didactic Unit it is intended that students in 4th grade in the area of Natural Science expand their knowledge of vertebrate and invertebrate animals, such as: characteristics, classification (vertebrates or invertebrates), types... All of this playful form and with a variety of activities, using the L2.

 

Sessions: 7 - 8

 

Students should be able to:

- To know some name of animal vertebrates and invertebrates

- To distinguish between the animals vertebrates and invertebrates

- To describe the main characteristics of each group of vertebrates

- To relacionate some animals vertebrates and invertebrates with their own characteristics

 

Activities           

SESIÓN 1:

             Activity 1: Thinking Routine (individual, couples and large group)

             Activity 2: Presentation of the Popplet outline content. (large group)

 

SESIÓN 2:

             Video of Symbaloo vertebrates and invertebrates animals. (Large Group)

             Vertebrate and invertebrate activity created in Constructor. (Individual, use of tablets)

             We work the grammatical structures for descriptions: (Production activity in pairs)

 

             Can a snake swim? No, A snake can´t swim

             Can a toucan fly? Yes, A toucan can fly

             Has it got wings? Yes, it has

             Has it got fur? No, it hasn´t

 

             Identify the sounds that animals make (large group)

             Classification animal's activity created with Constructor (individual, using tablets).

 

SESIÓN 3:

             Use of the Piktochart infographic. Explanation contained in large group.

             In the next activity, I will give to the students cardboard in which they will draw a vertebrate or invertebrate animal and they will indicate the most important characteristics. They will work in groups of four students. These will be included in the class mural.

 

SESIÓN 4:

             Song "Walking in the jungle". First, we listened to the song several times, and we will stop in each part so that the students can complete the file.

Next, we will circle the class to dance and sing the song. We will do a simple choreography, there will be four masks of the animals that are named in the song and they will be distributed among the students of the class alternating order, when the song name for example: Toucan, the student who has this mask when we ask What's that?  he/she take a step forward and leave the circle, answering, "It's a toucan" or whatever.

The chorus tells us the movements that we should do: walk, stomp, skip or jump, then, we will move in the circle in the corresponding way.

 

SESIÓN 5:

             Game: we will do it in a large group.

             We make the animal's mural.
